EM Microelectronic

EM Microelectronic is a semiconductor manufacturer specialized in the design and production of ultra low power, low voltage integrated circuits for battery-operated and field-powered applications in consumer, automotive and industrial areas. One of EM's main product segments is in radio frequency identification (RF ID), providing not only state-of-the art and very low-cost circuits. EM RF ID chips feature read only, read/write, anti-collision and operation in all common frequency bands. They are used in applications such as security and access control, animal ID, logistics, industrial automation, and car immobilization for theft protection, toll collection, bus and rail payment systems as well as others. EM's participation will be in work package „Reference Design“. It will participate in the system and device specification, contributing to the process through its experience and market presence, which is based on a large and heterogeneous customer network. It will also participate in the definition of the future product portfolio. Through its direct participation in ISO committees in the RF ID area and through its presence on the scene of automatic identification and data collection, EM will contribute to the definition of a proposal for standardization of wireless interface between readers and polymer electronic devices. With its know-how in industrial RF ID applications, EM will efficiently complement participating research organizations.
