PolyApply Presents a 13.56 MHz RFID Demonstrator Made of Flexible Organic Devices

Brussels, Belgium 01 March 2007: After 3 years of development, the European project PolyApply “The Application of Polymer Electronics to Ambient Intelligence” presented a 13.56 MHz RFID (“radio frequency identification”) transponder fully made of flexible organic devices. This demonstrates the feasibility of the new technology of organic electronics for the use in information applications.

Now in its fifth year, the Organic Electronics Conference and Exhibition 2007 (OEC-07) is the premier international gathering of scientists, engineers, manufacturers and investors for the discussion, demonstration and evaluation of organic semiconductor technologies and organic electronics. This year the conference takes place on the 24-26 September 2007 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The conference is an initiative of the Framework 6 IST Programme through the Integrated Project PolyApply. It is intended to cover all aspects of organic electronics including materials and chemistry, transistor, OLED, PV devices, circuits and circuit design, manufacture as well as their inclusion in systems.

Plastic Logic raising $100 million to build electronic paper products

Jan. 4, 2007 - Plastic Logic of Cambridge, England, announced that it will build one of the first factories to manufacture plastic electronics on a commercial scale. The facility will produce flexible active-matrix display modules for take anywhere, read anywhere electronic reader products. It will utilize Plastic Logic's unique process to fabricate active-matrix displays that are thin, light and robust - potentially enabling a reading experience closer to paper than any other technology.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation presents an outstanding result during the 23rd German logistics congress in Berlin. The Magdeburger Fraunhofer scientists are showing a RFID system, which has full functionality in a complete metallic environment. Even objects which are regarded as being difficult to work with (cans, metallic boxes) can now be used flawlessly in combination with RFIDs.
